Job Posting: Communications Specialist & Webmaster
Location: Troy ISD Position Type: Full-Time, 11-Month Contract Reports To: Chief Academic Officer
Position Summary
Troy ISD is seeking a Communications Specialist and Webmaster to lead and support our internal and external communication efforts. This role is responsible for managing the district’s digital presence, including the website and social media channels, while creating engaging content that strengthens community trust, celebrates student and staff achievements, and effectively communicates key initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain content for the district’s website to ensure accuracy, timeliness, accessibility, and brand consistency.
- Serve as webmaster: manage updates, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with the district’s Technology Department for technical needs.
- Manage and grow the district’s social media presence across platforms (Facebook, X, etc.)
- Craft clear, compelling written materials such as press releases, newsletters, board highlights, and feature stories.
- Capture and edit photos and videos at district events to showcase student and staff accomplishments.
- Coordinate crisis communication and assist with public relations responses.
- Support campuses and departments with communication needs and brand guidelines.
- Monitor engagement analytics for websites and social media to inform strategy.
- Collaborate with district leadership to plan and execute campaigns that highlight district initiatives and priorities.
- Ensure compliance with ADA website accessibility standards.
- Event planning and support for district leadership
- Assists office receptionist with occasional clerical duties
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in website content management systems, including Canva.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in social media strategy and management.
- Photography and basic video production/editing experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and community members.
- Experience in education communications preferred.
