Primary Purpose:

To perform a variety of routine grounds maintenance work at schools and other district sites.

 

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Valid Texas driver’s license

High School Diploma/GED

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures

Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)

Ability to operate hand and power tools

Ability to work independently

  

Example of Duties:

Mow, weed eat, plant and fertilize lawns, athletic fields, flowerbeds, trees, shrubbery and other cultivated areas in the district.

 

Water, trim and prune shrubs, trees. Aerates and prepares ground for planting. Operate, adjust, service and make minor repairs to power mowers and other gardening and landscaping machinery, tools and equipment.

 

Drive a truck and operate a variety of grounds maintenance tools, machinery and equipment including mowers, trimmers, tractor, edgers, skip loader, saws, blowers and other hand and power tools and other grounds equipment. Install or move trees, shrubs or flowers.

 

Vacuum, blow and clean walks and fields. Remove paper, trash and other debris from grounds and adjacent building areas.

 

Assist in repairing sprinkler and irrigation systems and resolving drainage problems.

 

Assist other personnel by moving furniture and equipment, preparing for special events and cleaning facilities. Maintain routine records related to work performed.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.
